Several items of interest. Tawna Brown sent another message to me last
night correcting some of the data from her reading of the Cross Creek
cemetery records. I'm showing them below.

> In memory of ISABEL BEATTY, consort of Wm. BEATTY, who departed thislife
July
> 19th, 1830, aged 32 years...
>
> I moved down to the next line which was Thomas Beatty died January 17th
1822,
> in his 2nd year.

Judging from the cemetery records and census data, I think that thisThomas
is most likely the son of Isabel Beatty and William Beatty.

In my searching through Harrison Co., OH records, I have found dates where
William was purchasing land as early as 1820 in Harrison Co., OH, but Iwas
somewhat confused thinking that he was living in Harrison County by 1820,
but his wife died in Washington Co., PA in 1832. Comparing the Washington
Co. PA census to the Harrison Co., OH census data I have determined the
William was physically living in PA until *after* 1832. By the 1840census
he had moved over to Harrison County.

I also found that James and Jane (maiden name unknown) Beatty lived in
Harrison Co., and died there being buried in the Cadiz cemetery.
Interestingly though, there were tombstone memorials in the Cross Creek
Church, Washington Co., PA cemetery for them also. This ties James and
Jane to Washington Co., PA. Could James be the brother to William?Thomas
Beatty lists both William and James as sons in his will which was probated
in 1816.

She also sent this.

I went to Philadelphia today and looked at U.S. Census records for

What we know of Isabel is that she is buried in the line of Beaty gravesin the Old Cross Creek cemetery under a stone with this inscription,"Isabel consort of William Age 23 Died July 19, 1830" So we don't knowher maiden name or anything else about her. We'll keep your info in ourfile and see if anything related to it turns up.

Julie has done some work on William, and concluded that he and Isabel hadchildren William Jr born1821-22, Samuel born in 1824 in Washington Co.,PA, John born in 1826 in Washington Co. PA. We believe John moved toHarrison Co., OH (like his brothers John, James, Samuel and sisterCatherine Rogers), and that he married Mary Fulton before 1840 inHarrison Co. OH. Fulton was born in 1800 in a place unknown to us.William and Mary had a son David Reynolds born 14 May 1840 or 41 inHarrison Co., OH. David R. married Clarissa Florence Sherer on 10 Sep1866 in Fairfield, Iowa. Children Emma, Anetta, Frederick S., Frank A.and Mary A. David R. died 23 Jan 1935 and is buried in Evergreencemetery Fairfield Iowa.

Ruben/Reuben Doutt
by Ruth Doutt Ingertson

Ruben was the first child of John (1778-1830) and Elisabeth(1782-1813) Doutt. He was born October 7, 1801, in Whitehall Township,Lehige County, (then Northumberland county), Pennsylvania. Ruben wasbaptized November 8, 1801, in the Jordan Lutheran and Reformed Church. His sponsors were Andreas Gut and Maria Benefield.
Ruben is the spelling used here and it was supposedly used by thefamily and in early records. The family also used the spellings Aron andAmon for other sons.
At the age of 22 years, Ruben married Anna Stopp, daughter of Jacoband Christine (Anewalt) Stopp. The marriage took place February 26,1824, in N. Whitehall Township, Lehigh County. It wasn't long after theirmarriage that Ruben and Anna arrived in Butler County, Pennsylvania, where they became members of the Grace Reformed Church in Harmony.Harmony has an interesting history, first built by George Rapp and hisHarmonist Society. The whole town was later sold to Abraham Ziegler anda group of Mennonites.
It is believed that Ruben and Anna were, at one time, members of theMennonite Church in Harmony. However, no proof has been found. Recordsof the Grace Reformed Church of Harmony show that Ruben and Anna wereconirmed April 10, 1847, giving rise to speculation they had joinedanother church in Harmony. Ruben was a carpenter and cabinet maker andhas been referred to in records as a "Mennonite church builder".
Ruben and Anna had a family of 16 children, 11 living to maturity. All of the children were born in Butler County, probably inConnoquenessing Township, in or near Harmony. They were: Absalom(1824-1825); John (1826-1902) who married Susan Ziegler, had 10 children,Married #2 Marietta Downey and settled in Venango County; Marion(1827-1829); then twins Ruben and Anna: Ruben (1829-1917) married SusanStamates, had 4 children, married #2 Permelia Everly and had 1 son (ThisRuben was one of the first Doutts to leave Pennsylvania to "go west", asfar as the Warsaw area of Indiana. Some of his children moved fartherwest, as far as they could go without crossing the ocean); Anna (1829-) married William Lytle and had as many as eight children and settled inCrawford County; Sarah (1831-1831); Jacob (1832-1916) married Sarah E.Houghton, had at least one son and settled in Venango County; Joseph(1834-1834); Abraham (1835-1872) married Margaret McClelland/Nicholson,had 6 children and is buried in Crawford County; Samuel S. (1837-1906)married Julia Ann Marley, had 5 children and settled in Crawford County;Daniel (1839-1910) married Eleanor (Ellen) Marshall, had 5 children andthey lived for the most part in Venango County; Aron (1841-pre 1850);Catherine (1842- ) married charles H. Stopp and had an adopted son;Sarah (1845- ) married ---?--- Cook; Mary Mcclenna (1847-1884); Levi(1849-1882).
According to HISTORY OF VENANGO COUNTY., PA.. published in 1890,"Some years after 1830, (a relative term as Ruben was yet in Butlercounty in 1850), Reuben Doutt built a hewed-log house a story and a halfhigh at the village of Springville, known as a postoffice under the nameof Balliet. The village is 7 miles from Franklin and near the center ofthe township."
Anna Stopp Doutt, born probably in Lehigh county, January 11, 1803,died April 6, 1866, probably in Crawford County. She is buried inMumford Chapel Cemetery, E. Fairfield Township, Crawford County. Afterher death, Ruben made his home with his son Abraham, where in the 1870census of E. Fairfield Twp., he is 69 years old and his occupation islisted a cabinet maker. Ruben died March 30, 1886, and is buried besideAnna in Mumford Chapel Cemetery.
